Most of the year campfires are allowed. However, during dry periods, a fire ban will be in place. This is established and enforced by Burnet county, not the ranch. The hill country is extremely vulnerable to wildfires during this time. During a fire ban, campfires and outdoor cooking fires are not allowed. Your booking platform may notify you of a fire ban. However, you are responsible for learning about the current fire situation. This Burnet County webpage will help with that. Ask Jeremy or Stacie if you are unsure.
If campfires are allowed during your stay, please never leave them unattended and keep them under control. No bonfires – be responsible. If a wildfire starts it could kill the wildlife.
There is a fire extinguisher outside attached to the deck near the fire pit. There is another one inside the tent under the kitchen counter.
Additionally, there is a water hose connected to the back of the deck. Locate these before you start a campfire – assuming there is no fire ban.
When you leave, use the water hose to flood the fire pit and stir your fire with water to make sure it’s “dead out”.
Thanks for your help in keeping the land and animals safe from wildfires!
